4.0 out of 5 stars. Makeshift Winter Hiking BootVerified Buyer Reviewed by ProfessorPepper from SLO, CA on Thursday, February 23, 2017SIZING: I normally wear a 10.5 comfortably. I got these in size 10 and fits great even with 2 thick socks on.
I purchased these as a cheap alternative to hard double boots costing upwards of $800 for $50. I had to buy double boots (boots with removable liner) because I've had wet feet before and it ruined my weekend trip so with these I can dry the liner overnight and be good to go.
So far I have only used these to climb Mt. Baldy in early February. My experience using them:
The Good: My feet have never been warmer. I slept in an outhouse at 9000 feet (to wait out the sleet) for a few hours. It was high teens low 20s out and even staying still I didn't worry about the warmth of my feet at all.
Perfect fit with my MSR Ascent Snowshoes. They are like big crampons and allowed me to ascend up the Baldy Bowl with virtually no problem.
This was the first mountain where I returned to my car with feet just as dry as when I left even with glissading down the mountain. Resounding success!!
The Bad: Going up, I was feeling much more of the ground (rocks, sticks) than I do with something like my running shoes. Weird for boots with such thick soles.
Going down, now this is the only thing I would warn you about this boot. Its a fairly loose fit-no matter how you tie the laces. This means going down your toes will push into the tip of the boot every step. HOWEVER, I think I found a solution to BOTH problems. There's a product out there called Neos Eva Insoles (on amazon) that provides 10mm (.4 in) of lift using high density foam that shouldn't flex but should shield my feet from stepping on pointing things. Also, in theory, the lift should create a secure more fit, preventing my foot from sliding around.
Conclusion: I can only recommend these boots for this purpose if my insole idea works. As I can't imagine how much more my toes could take since I was really starting to feel it on Baldy and it's only 4 miles from summit to car. Overall, I can confidently say you will see me using these to hike up Whitney in winter, really up anything in winter that's not class V.
Bottom Line: Low quality rubber, High value winter boot -
3.0 out of 5 stars. Sized largeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Danny O from Idaho on Monday, February 13, 2017Nice warm boots but they are sized larger. I normally wear an 8 but could have gotten a 7 in this boot. Kinda feel like wearing the 80s moon boots

5.0 out of 5 stars. Best boot ever!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Granny M from Minnesota on Friday, December 30, 2016I ordered these Kodiak Lander boots for my husband, who hasn't had a new pair for years! :) They arrived quickly, just in time for the next blizzard! He says the fit is perfect, they are warm and he feels very comfortable walking on ice with them - the bottoms are sculpted just right. The price was great for our budget, too! Thank you, Kodiak!

4.0 out of 5 stars. Snow testedReviewed by Anonymous from Northern Michigan on Monday, November 23, 2015I bought these boots after owing Rocky 1000g. They are light and comfortable. My feet aren't roasting in them and I do feel some cold from being outside, but that is with 1 normal pair of socks on. I will just wear wool socks or 2 pair and I don't see a problem occuring. I usually wear a 10 and went with a 9 in these, no complaints, would recommend.
