I wanted to be able to get at least one thermal layer under this top, since it has a zip close, and got the added advantage of a longer length for use with leggings or skinny pants. You have to stretch the hem to get it long enough and I don't know yet if it won't ride up during the day, but it's certainly a quality garment.
