They are nearly impossible to put on normal size feet. They are so tight around the ankle that I gave up immediately and returned them.

It is tight. But i believe the tightness is to keep water out. After wearing them for an hour or so, they were still tight, but I didn't notice. And now after a few months, they remain tight and still keep the water out. I wore them walking through a field with 6" grass and my feet were dry and comfy. I particularly enjoy them when I'm playing near the water, loading/unloading boats, and just walking around. The remind of a smarter boat shoe.
