5.0 out of 5 stars. Really different running shoesVerified Buyer Reviewed by picky person from Chicago on Tuesday, August 1, 2017I've been running for 40 years and lots of miles, and these shoes felt like they took 10 years off my legs. The zero drop felt very strange at first, but once I got used to it I couldn't go back. They are lightweight and roomy in the toe box. They do not have much traction at all. Even on wet grass they slip, so if you run on slick surfaces, get Altra trail shoes instead.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Very CuteVerified Buyer Reviewed by T.bear from So. California on Thursday, February 25, 2016These are the cutest shoes, especially in the blue and yellow combo. They are very cushy and roomy, so much so that I can't imagine running in them. I use them for work and get lots of compliments, but the outer layer of "netting" is not very durable and is ripping where it attaches to the toe rubber. I have gotten six months of enjoyment out of them and they were a great price but am looking for a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars. I hate to run!Reviewed by Pancho's Mom from Colorado on Friday, October 23, 2015I hate to run, but these shoes help me. Don't think I realized how much difference they could make! Nice for a forefoot strike - not a great walking shoe.
I thought they looked a little funny out of the box, but they look great. I will order another pair, when STP has my size. Might consider ordering a 1/2 size up. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Loving these!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jephiner from British Columbia on Monday, September 14, 2015These are amazing. The kind of shoes you don't need to break in. I'm not a runner so I should say that up front, but these are very comfortable shoes for exercising in.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Yay! My feet don't hurt!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from CA on Sunday, August 23, 2015Love these shoes! I have Mormons neuroma and my toes go to sleep after wearing most running shoes but not in these. I did have to send the first ones in green back because they were a bit short. Super comfortable and they were a great price to try this type of shoe. Customer service is outstanding and I love buying from STP!

4.0 out of 5 stars. Great fitVerified Buyer Reviewed by OkHeat74 from Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, August 11, 2015These are my new favorite running shoe! The fit is great with plenty of room in the toe box. The only drawback for me was the type of shoe laces. The laces are the kind that are thin and flat instead of rounded; rounded laces are just my personal preference.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Wide forefoot, narrow heelReviewed by Anonymous from California on Wednesday, August 5, 2015I want to bless the reviewer that described these shoes as built for wide feet with narrow heels. Every time I wear these, I'm amazed that a shoe finally fits my foot. I'm on the fence about ordering up a half size, though. I ordered a 9 for my 8 1/2 foot, but probably could wear the 8 1/2. However, the heel holds my foot in place pretty well so I've got a decent fit. If you've never seen Altras in person, be aware that the nerd factor is very high. I felt a little like a duck at first (take a look at the top-down view) and I had to become used to walking and running in these. My feet are so happy that it's all worth the (minor) difficulty.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Love AltrasReviewed by Tracy from Arizona on Monday, June 15, 2015Altras are my favorite running shoe brand. I always have to size up a half size to get the right fit length-wise though. I have a narrow heel and a wide forefoot. These are the perfect shoe for someone in this situation. Another wonderful purchase. They are the most comfortable running shoe I have ever owned. I bought the men's Instinct for my partner and he loves them too. So glad to see the we can now get great STP pricing for Altras. Keep selling them!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Amazing comfortReviewed by shoelover from TN on Friday, June 12, 2015I'd never heard of this brand and ordered because of the sale price. These are the most comfortable running shoes I've ever owned! They are light, feel like walking on memory foam, yet give support and stability. I can't address how well they wear - recently received them, but at this point, I don't actually care. For reference, my foot is fairly wide from side to side, yet thin from top to bottom with a narrow heel. I usually wear an 8M, but can't wear all shoes because my shoes hang over. I don't think these would work for a narrow foot, but for a medium to fairly wide foot, these shoes are amazing!! I'll be going back to this brand! These will be perfect for walks too. I ordered sz 8.5; I always go up 1/2 size in running shoes, but I might have been able to go with my regular sz 8. .

5.0 out of 5 stars. too small : (Reviewed by Baltimoron from Baltimore, MD on Thursday, June 11, 2015I was excited to try this brand as the men's version has really been a godsend to my boyfriend. I don't have any of the foot problems that he does, but I thought they would still be super comfortable. I am also a light runner at most, but am on my feet long hours at work.
On arrival, the shoes are indeed very comfortable. For Altra's this is not a model with a ton of cushioning, but my feet still felt cushy, light, and did not get fatigued. The slight problem was the size. I usually wear an 8 1/2 in women's shoes, and a 9 in running shoes. Sadly, the 9 is a little too snug, and that is factoring in the fact that these shoes (and this brand) fit differently as the shoes are designed with anatomical and physiological awareness. Fortunately, the 9 1/2 is still available, so I will exchange the shoes for the larger size, and hopefully they will then be keepers.
As for the style, on the STP website, the shoes look really dorky to me. On the whole, I don't think Altra excels at styling, although it seems their new line is a little more appealing. In any case, as dorky has some appeal to me, and I am true to my genX-er niche in shying away from brand identification for status and identity, I thought that I would try them. WELL, happily, they don't actually look as dorky, either in the box or on the feet, as the pictured led me to expect. Also, despite the spacious toe box, they don't look bizarrely wide.
