They style of the pockets and seams makes them very flattering on the rear. I sized up and they're a very nice relaxed fit that still manages to be form flattering. When I went with my normal size on the last pair (more of a cowgirl cut than this fashion cut) they were butt sculpting and were a bit hard to squeeze the waist over the hips. I don't think I'd have the same problem with this style but I'm glad I got another pair of jeans in a size up to "grow into" with my cookie habit.
