5.0 out of 5 stars. Very nice reel!Verified Buyer Reviewed by GrayDrake from Kalamazoo, MI on Sunday, October 2, 2016I've always been a Ross Reel guy but decided to give this one a try because of the low cost and high reviews. The minute I pulled it out of the box I was impressed. You can usually tell a lot about a reels quality just by the way it feels in hand. This reel feels solid and well made. Drag feels smooth and adjustments are smooth and easy to make. I will definitely give Lamson/waterworks reels serious consideration in the future. Can't wait to give it a real Michigan winter steelhead workout this season!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great Reel!Reviewed by Sgt. Steelhead from Buffalo, NY on Thursday, September 22, 2016You definitely get your money's worth with this reel. Though the drag can be a bit difficult to adjust in the middle of a fight, the rest of its qualities outweigh this minor inconvenience.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for the priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by iamamultitasker from CA on Monday, August 29, 2016I've got 3 Lamson reels and each one has been great so far. This Guru 3.5 is the heaviest of the lot, but that may not be a bad thing. The weight on the Guru 3.5 is about average or slightly heavier than many other machined reels in this class which makes it good for balancing rods that have a higher swing weight. It also feels more rugged vs. other Lamsons that seem light as air.
Most importantly, this reel has the standard Lamson conical sealed drag which makes it almost foolproof. We'll see if it holds up in salt water. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Well made reelVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mike from Texas on Wednesday, June 8, 2016I got a great price on this reel with the DealFlyer discount. This is a US made, fully machined reel from a company with a great reputation. The drag is smooth and strong. I teamed this reel with a 9 weight Ross RX rod I also purchased from STP. This will be my "go to" outfit for inshore fishing. I don't think you can find a better reel at this price.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Cannot be beat for the money period!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Riverplayer from Wisconsin on Saturday, March 12, 2016Show me an American made fly reel fully machined with a drag this smooth and this dependable and I will kiss your --s! I have been a Lamson guy since late 90's and have yet to have a reason to buy another manufacturers product for my trout, steelhead, and bass fishing. Yes there are several other incredible companies building awesome reels out there I agree. But Lamson is king when it comes to value. Don't hesitate. Can't go wrong here

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great reelReviewed by QC approved from California on Monday, October 19, 2015Anyone in the fly fishing industry knows Lamson Guru great reputation from PNW to Florida and world wide. Built in the USA from Aluminium bar stock T-6061, sealed conical drag system good for fresh and saltwater. Light weight to balance well with modern fly rod and large arbor. Only plastic lesser value die cast fly reels can hold the "better" value than the clearance price for Lamson Gurus at Sierra makes.
