It is tend to be tight on both sides of the head, thats why most other people find it small, luckily it fits me nicely, my head is 22 inch and it fits perfectly for Medium size.
Unfortunately the package that arrived missing the Detachable Visor screws, thats the reason for the 4 stars. Otherwise, a 5 stars for sure.
I chatted with Sierra, and hope they will find the screws and send them to me. -

There was also a dent it the helmet as if it has been dropped. The person in charge of receiving returned equipment needs to do a better job assessing the quality of product before reselling it. Not pleased.

I'm a big fan of POC helmets, as my head seems to fit them, whether they're ski or bike helmets. I love how lightweight this helmet is, and don't mind the relative lack of venting compared to other helmet models. The adjustable knob in the back is great if you sometimes wear a beanie, and the bright colors (I have turquoise and green) are fun and visible.

I measured the circumference of my head to be 22" and ordered a medium. It is a great fit. The straps are softly padded, which should help prevent chafing. For those of you that had sizing issues...I had gone onto the POC website to check out the reason for a little knob that was located on the back neck of the helmet. I saw no mention of this knob in the instruction booklet that came with the helmet. However... On the POC website, the Synapses helmet's fit can be adjusted with this knob. So, I put my helmet on, twisted the knob, and it cinches the helmet down to a much tighter fit all over. I just thought I would share this information and hope it helps. It is a really cool feature.

But it definitely runs small like other reviews said. I am a small female and I got a medium... Uncomfortable tho..didn't sit down on my head correctly without "forcing" it down. If STP had a large I would have exchanged for that but wasn't available.. Very nice looking quality helmet tho

But after wearing it around the hill all day and bragging about the good price, I got comments about the quality and safety of this brand. That is always a good thing. I ordered a Large because of the reviews about sizing, and it is a little wobbly, but allows free air circulation, which is essential for an East Coast ski instructor who spends so much time chasing 4 year olds.
