5.0 out of 5 stars. Great Boot!

It took me a while to decide to order these boots. I read through blogs and reviews before finally making the decision to make the purchase. Why was I so hesitant? The combination of comfort, warm, walk-ability, and performance seemed too good to be true. Now I have only skied on these boots twice (though pretty much from the first chair to the last chair on both days), but I am really glad I made this purchase. I have taken these down all levels of terrain and have not once found them to be unresponsive. For full disclosure I previously had a set of intermediate boots (flex was somewhere between 100-110) and I have never been in expert level boots so I can't say how different in terms of performance they are compared to a very nice and very stiff hard boot. What I can say though is that skiing on these thing is comfortable and that means I'm having more fun on the mountain. My wide feel feel great in them and I no longer am in constant pain whenever I have to walk in my boots. To top it all off having to carry my seven year old son's skis and then getting him a hot chocolate has never been easier. Some advice if you get Apex boots - it takes a while figuring out how to get into the shells, but after a while it gets easier (it's still faster than getting the hard boots on and then walking to the chair). Also I bought some good ski straps (Viole) to carry my boot shells and that works really well. I really hope Apex becomes more popular in more areas as I hope to never go back to the hard boots again.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Update on previous review

    Like them.
Got a few days at Heavenly Resort.
Although a little wider than hard shell boots, are fine if you take an aggressive stance. (Required on my Head Monsters) combined soft boot and skeleton hard shell are a bit heavy.....but all of this is on the surface, after all.
Still don’t recommend driving in these. .....bummer
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. So far, so good

Is only October in Tahoe. So I can only review what I know so far.
Have always been envious of friend’s snow board boots. Especially when hiking runs. These are an interesting move to rectify the difference.

    Pluses and minuses:
Plus...warm, especially with liner. Fit is really good, especially for medium or wide feet. Unlike most ski boots, which pull insert to one side via hard shell straps, these center fit before skeleton hard shell is engaged. Lots of adjustments available.

Minus...is a bit higher on calf than current Debellos. Hard shell profile is 1 1/2 inch longer requiring re-drilling. Wouldn’t drive a car with soft shell. (Can’t angle ankle) although I have friends who drive in ski boots hard shells. God bless them.

About Apex

Ski industry veteran Denny Hanson has been building leading-edge ski boots for more than 40 years. After decades of pushing the boundaries of design and helping athletes go faster, Denny launched Apex ski boots in 2008 and quickly introduced a groundbreaking new concept: Open Chassis. From the revolutionary A-Flex tunable suspension system to multiple built-in adjustment features, Apex ski boots provide an impressive level of customization that few other brands can match. The result is a better fit, more control and enhanced comfort on and off the slopes. With additional features like heat-moldable liners and BOA lacing added to the mix, it’s easy to see why Apex ski boots have officially taken the industry by storm.
