4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice basic shortsReviewed by Cruiser from Littleton, CO on Monday, March 14, 2016This is the first piece of BD "lifestyle" clothing I have purchased and overall I'd say that they're pretty decent. Black Diamond has a reputation for producing excellent hardgoods so I guess I had pretty high hopes for these. But really, they're just plain old cotton shorts. They've got 2 slash pockets on the sides and 2 back pockets. The zipper and button closure is basic but well built. The waist on the 32" fits me just fine so I'd say they run pretty true to size. The cut is classic, not baggy but not overly trim either. The length is good as well hitting me just above the knee. There's a second layer of fabric in the crotch / butt area that is supposed to help with durability. I dunno if that makes much of an impact on your buying decision, it certainly didn't with mine. The fabric is medium weight. Not as heavy as Carhartt duck but certainly a bit more sturdy than most chino type shorts. They've worn and washed well so far and, at the low STP price, they're a pretty decent value if you're in the market for an uncomplicated pair of casual shorts.
