I also bought two Blackburn bike lights and like them much better -- they were ready to use. -

It helps, but as one should expect, 1 LED is not highly visible in heavy traffic/urban settings, as on roads with fewer cars. In other words, a light this small may not be so visible when competing with a large number of cars and trucks.
This is not a shortcoming of the light, it is a warning to cyclist's to use logic....
The usual, those who use logic already know this, those who don't ...don't. -
