4.0 out of 5 stars. All around decent shell.Verified Buyer Reviewed by roleman from VA on Wednesday, December 13, 2017I didn't get to actually test this jacket properly, as I returned it for something warmer. I underestimated just how much the description implied this jacket really is meant for warmer days, which is my fault, but I think the jacket name doesn't convey that.
It seems very well designed for what it's intended. It was very comfortable with plenty of mobility. My only complaint is that the sleeves are almost comically long, and I have pretty long limbs. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Nothing but the bestVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Colorado on Tuesday, December 5, 2017By far OR has done it again with a super tough jacket that protects you from the winter

5.0 out of 5 stars. I love it.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Eric from michigan on Wednesday, February 8, 2017I wear size 40 and M fits good. Colors are super cool. Goretex windstoper is awesome and light with a soft smooth feel to the hand. Great as a winter outer shell or as a cool windy day jacket.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Great backcountry ski jacket!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Cody Rayl from Boise on Thursday, December 1, 2016This jacket serves its intended purpose very well! If you are wanting an "around town" coat, this is not your item. This jacket is built perfectly for backcountry pursuits! The full pit zips are wonderful for venting on the skin up and it blocks the wind/snow on the way down. The fit of this jacket is relaxed to allow for layering. I typically wear a medium in all jackets (5'9" 160) and this jacket fits me perfect. Arms are a bit long, but it allows for easier movement and doesn't bunch up when layered on another jacket or fleece. The other thing I really like is the high collar which does a great job keeping your neck/face protected from the wind. The "media pocket" inside the jacket is surprisingly small. It wouldn't fit my cell phone...but no biggie. I was able to put it in the other inside pocket (larger) on the other side of the jacket. Overall, this is jacket is a keeper for me!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Minnesota on Thursday, November 10, 2016This is a very nice shell, great quality, and hopefully will keep me somewhat dry. It is a little brighter than shown in the picture.

2.0 out of 5 stars. Really more of a shell...not a jaxReviewed by Anonymous from New York on Sunday, October 16, 2016Was looking more for a jax than a shell, nice material but very light and I thought the sizing was a little small in the chest and shoulders which could make layering a bit of an issue. I'm a standard large 42" chest and this was definitely a lil snug in chest and shoulders even though it was described as 43".

5.0 out of 5 stars. Amazing Skiing Softshell (Bar None)Reviewed by Summitchallenger from SLC, Utah on Friday, June 24, 2016This past winter I was re-introduced to Outdoor Research gear. About 20 years ago I bought some nice expedition mitts and a hat that really withstood hard use. I still have the hat but the mitts, after a couple hundred ski days, are retired. I just missed out on the introduction of their jackets and outerwear.
Fast forward to March when I picked up a nice OR tech hoodie that I loved. Because of my experience, I looked here to see what was available and this coat came up. The reviews online were nothing but positive and I moved to get this in blue. I immediately fell in love. Easy zippers to open, nice pockets well laid out, great ventilation on the sides, nice hood, and very nice detail work. I love that OR opted for Gore Windstopper instead of a cheaper knock-off. This, with the level of detail in design and care, make this an amazing softshell for skiing.
I've used it now on probably a half-dozen days of skiing, including a few "hike-to" options, and it is the real deal. It is thick enough for colder days but has the versatility for temps up to the 40's. It is geared for lift and backcountry skiing. It has all the options I want for a jacket such as this (belay front zipper, good hood, zipper vents on the sides, plenty of pockets but not too many, phone holder, great fit, great material, versatile use) and is offered here at an amazing price. A great technical softshell for skiers and riders in particular.
The highest compliment I can give is that I just bought another one in Diablo (which is red-orange as shown).
I hope that OR does not change or get rid of this amazing workhorse. -
