4.0 out of 5 stars. All Day at this PriceReviewed by spychic from alexandria VA on Friday, July 7, 2017I have owned this about 2 of 3 years commuting via steel CX and various fat and mid fat bikes. What's important about bike type is, on certain terrains and if leaning into drop bars, the bag will shift depending on how well you balanced the packing. this is especially true if you're female b/c the cool as hell buckle strap can only be cinched so much on our smaller sized frames. But, unless the bag is cram packed full, the fit of the strap makes it slightly dangerous if the main strap falls forward off my shoulder. The other reason this got 4 not 5 stars is the orients over my left shoulder, but the second thinner safety strap is oriented for a bag to swing over the right shoulder, so I have to run it over the main strap in order to use it. That limits how much tension can be applied since it cannot cinch directly.
You can tell the bag was designed by bike people b/c they thought of things only people using it for biking care about, like the careful use velcro pockets, effective/easy to operate clips, straps, and ties. They have loops for lights or locks and more than enough padded space for 13-17" laptop, ipad, ect. The main section features a zippered neoprene lap top area which is against your back as you ride. That compartment is the largest b/c it's also got an open area large enough for a 24 ounce water bottle standing up, medium 2 thick envelop along with your lap top or other odd sized items. Then there is a thinner zippered area with ample pockets for glasses, tools, wallet, pens, even the bike pump and tubes fit. The two square velcroed pockets are below that section, which is where I stash my U-lock and patch kit. Then you close the waterproof flap over that and with the tension straps, can secure anything within that flap, like sweatshirt, or odd shaped grocery items (bananas), even a pool noodle bent in half, haha. But b/c of the velcro in the square pocket area, once cinched, the straps do not move. So no loose straps dangling and slapping you or a passing obstacle pulling you off the bike (happened to me with corded headphones and a tiny vine).
The bag feels small until you need to pack some groceries or post office errands in it, then suddenly you remember how much it actually expands. I could easily cram several text books and lap top, lunch, personables, ect. What fits less well are shoes or full changes of clothes, as in gym stuff. I can however pack rain hoody, winter hoody, vests ect. for when temps transition 30 or so degrees from morning to afternoon rides. 4 small and 2 larger grocery bags in this thing usually, and when I am overly ambitious at the grocery store, 4 bags always fit (even managed a 5th once tightened into the pouch/cover area). And when really full, it does fit a female body better. Overall, I never have lost any items, never had the thing move to where I wrecked. This is a blessing, albeit a little large for a female figure. I also applied reflective tape on the rain flap/cover and it looks like it was made that way. What I have not tested is extreme storms, but in mild, steady rain, all content was dry.

5.0 out of 5 stars. small but packs a big punchVerified Buyer Reviewed by Ralph from Los Angeles on Friday, April 8, 2016Best messenger bag I have owned. If you are on the fence between timbuk2 or Chrome, the chrome is much better. Very durable rugged and feels a whole lot more secure than any of the timbuk2's i have owned. This bag although small fits a macbook air 13 or surface pro just fine and still have room for a light change of clothes a notebook pens, and space for lock and possibly a can or 2 of your fave brew.
This is my 3rd bag purchase from Sierra Trading Post!
