These are well worth the money, and you can't find a better deal than on STP. I knew what I was getting because I've had a pair of Smith Chief Chromapop's for sunny days for a while now, and I couldn't pass up the chance at Smith Chief Polarchromics for lower light conditions on the water.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Ignitor ain't no joke

So I love Smiths. Have a few pair. Other models that I have and that fit are Mastermind, Dolen and Dover. These Chiefs fit about the same in width, maybe a little tighter but not uncomfortable and a lot better coverage than the Mastermind and Dover. My other lenses are the Chromapop brown (love them!) and the polarchromic copper glass, also great lenses. But these may be the most versatile.

I'm a 40-something wanna-be younger cool guy who thinks he still gets noticed in sunglasses. Fact is, I'm wrong, so I have to balance that misconception with my need for practical products. I'm probably not going downtown in these glasses, but I am going into a river or out on a trail in these. The lenses are great. The frames are good, but the color would be better if Smith would get out of their own way and offer Ignitor lenses in more than black and this camo looking color (that's what my daughter called it). BUT, if you're looking for function, these are the deal. I went fishing recently in overcast conditions and they helped cut glare but didn't really impede my vision. My brown lenses would've been way too dark, no question. I also hiked this weekend. Great on the trail! I've been driving in them a bunch. Love it. And that super stupid shiny Smith logo on the temple comes right off with a small screwdriver (thanks Smith for switching to the new classy logo of just your name).

Bottom line, highly recommended lenses. I like them so much I will probably buy a pair of the Chromapop Ignitors if they give me a better frame option. But for now, I'll go on loving these.

One last thing, if you buy them, get some retainer straps. If these hit the ground, the only thing that will be ignited is your rage that the glass lenses just cracked. Don't be that guy(or gal).
