5.0 out of 5 stars. FANTASTIC winter running shoes!

I was looking for a pair of winter running shoes, because after moving to Colorado I needed something with traction for the snow and ice. I took a chance on these and I couldn't be happier. They have a Vibram sole with 6mm lugs, and the surface of the soles must be treated with something because they stick like crazy, to everything. I love that I can really trust the All Out Peaks on sketchy surfaces. The only thing they're not great on is black ice, but I can't fault them for that. As long as there's some kind of texture, these shoes are solid on all kinds of ice and snow. I've run in them on packed snow, slushy snow, an inch or two of fresh powder, ice, and even wet rocks - they stick great to all of those surfaces. (My go-to running/hiking shoes the rest of the year are my Merrell Pace Gloves, and even they don't stick on wet rocks.) The All Out Peaks are also warm enough to comfortably wear in the winter, even just walking around (which may mean they'll be too warm for my hot feet in the summer, but that's okay.) They were comfortable as soon as I put them on - no break-in needed. One other plus is that they don't have any metal cleats, so you don't sound like a monster walking around on hard surfaces indoors (and you won't damage anything).
As a huge fan of minimalist shoes, my only suggested improvement for the All Out Peaks would be to have less cushioning and a 0mm drop. (They have a 6mm drop and 16mm of cushioning.) Regardless, these shoes are phenomenal and I highly recommend them.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Merrell running shoes

The all out peak is a great looking shoe. It is a bit tight around the foot, but I have wide feet. I was told this shoe was good for supination, but I'm not so sure about that after wearing them for a week, they hurt my heal a bit when walking. They feel good while running, lots of support and traction. Overall this is a good shoe but it's limited where to buy these. I got mine on sale at a merrell shop in folsom CA.

Have been wearing these on my 5 mile walks for weeks now. Fit seems true to size. Good laces that stay tied. Feel a little narrow in the toe, but overall great with a nice aggressive trail tread. Not crazy about the color. They are lightweight and more of a summer shoe so my feet are a little cold in these icy temps.

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
