5.0 out of 5 stars. great minimalist shoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Wisconsin from Wisconsin on Thursday, May 5, 2016bought these for my husband for everyday wear. They are less attention-grabbing than when he wears his 5-finger shoes (which is good), yet minimalistic enough to satisfy his comfort.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Comfortable and more stable than the early modelsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Philip from Gilbert on Tuesday, March 29, 2016This shoe is a little more robust with a stiffer sole than the early Merrell minimalist shoes I own. We do a lot of hiking over rough stony ground and these are definitely more comfortable. I notice sharp stones less than I do with my other pairs. They are still remarkably light.

4.0 out of 5 stars. Decent Zero Drop Middle Distance shoeVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from SW Michigan on Wednesday, March 23, 2016My feet are size 12.5 4W, and I got size 13.
I don't go much over 5 miles on asphalt with my five-fingers. These shoes feel like they can carry me up to half-marathon plus distance without the feet complaining. Fit is good with a reasonable size toe box.
The coating around the toe on the neon green is super-reflective. The overall effect is very loud colorwise, so I won't be using these for casual wear. -

5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent near-minimalist running shoe.Reviewed by Brian from Northern California on Monday, January 4, 2016I'm on my second pair of Bare Access Ultras. I absolutely love them. They are minimalist in the sense that they are as light as a racing shoe (around 7 oz for a men's size 9), are zero-drop, very flexible, and have a relatively wide forefoot. They are "near"-minimalist in that they have a decent amount of cushion with a 12 mm EVA midsole, or about 1/2 to 2/3 as much as a typical running shoe (I think the total stack hight is 18 mm), and a small amount of arch support (no foam arch cushion but the shoe hugs the arch area). They are perfect shoes for someone transitioning to full-minimalist shoes or for heavier minimalist enthusiasts like me (198 lbs). Like other Merrells, the BAU's are well made. The Vibram rubber outer sole wears well. The shoe runs true to size compared to other Merrells.
A word of advice to minimalist newbies: alternate this shoe with your regular running shoes for a while and build up your foot and calf strength before you go to these shoes full time.
