The top scrolly wire half of this tree has a threaded screw stem that screws into the metal base. The base is hollow, BTW, so not as heavy duty as it may appear--non issue. So I ended up having to unscrew and rescrew the two pieces together (about five times) until they screwed all the way together. It's like the threads for the screw were resistant at first. No big deal, but thought you might like to know so you don't give up on it and send it back. Then you have to pull down and rearrange the metal bits till the tree is in the shape you prefer.
In the end I really am pleased with this sweet little card tree.
It's very cute and I'm looking forward to filling it up in a few weeks with Christmas cards!
