They have good traction on an unshoveled sidewalk or moderate slope as well. I believe they will leak wet through the side sipper and tongue in anything deep.not good for super cold temps and standing on a ski hill. I found them to be a little narrow in the toes and wish I could have ordered a half size bigger. They fit like a tennis shoe rather than a boot.

The warmth is comparable to leather cowboy boots; some might find it useful to wear thicker socks on cold, wet, windy days.

I would say they run large; I wear thick socks with them and still have plenty of room. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the insoles of my first pair didn't keep their cushioning for very long. I'm going to get some inserts for these and hope that will prolong their use! They are truly waterproof, too.
