4.0 out of 5 stars. Huge Unique TarpTentVerified Buyer Reviewed by StargazerAl from Texas on Sunday, November 11, 20181st - I like tents and this one is different in some unique ways, starting with a very open feeling and tall roof point/pole that can be used to attach a 12 foot Kelty Noah tarp for a humongous covered tent/porch area with the Mirada's enclosed bug net/tent insert providing good rain protection/privacy. A car camping set up for sure but the Mirada comes with a backpack carrying case that works for very short hikes. The included 2 poles are heavy but sturdy.
While heavy- it is nice durable tent quality polyester (doesn't stretch/sag much when wet like a nylon rainfly) and covers a huge footprint even without an added tarp porch) with one side very open for event or scenery viewing and for shady chair lounging. Sleeps three comfortably with no crowding. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Do not come with the foot printVerified Buyer Reviewed by Edwin from US on Sunday, October 21, 2018Actually I do love this tent as it is made with durable, smooth and soft materials. However, it did not come with the foot trap and I need to find it buy myself:(
The pole is quite heavy(durable) so I might change to the other pole as well since I couldn’t carry too much things. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. Strange tentVerified Buyer Reviewed by only Bob from missouri on Sunday, October 14, 2018Used once so far. Light steady rain with 15 - 20 mph wind. quartering toward front of tent. A lot of rain overnight. Stayed completely dry. Front of tent body and back of tent body are solid fabric. 1/2 of front is door (1 zipper up and down the middle & 1 zipper along bottom edge, both meet in middle of bottom) with zip open panel for venting (on door side only). Both side walls are mesh except lower foot or so is solid. Tent body is not very deep, much over 6 ft tall may not fit well. I may be able to pitch it better, but this first time, the fly between the poles (fabric ridge line) flapped in the wind. It is like an old school A frame with only an upright pole on each end, no extra poles to hold the fabric under tension. The guy out for the front pole is the fly that extends past the front of the tent body. A bit of fiddling may tension it so it doesn't flap. I just let it go. Fly has mesh for a back wall, and mesh for a portion of its lower edge (wide low triangle shape). Ventilation was very good. 3 people fit comfortably, 4 may be tight. Tent body hangs pretty loose inside the fly. Has some adjustment for tightening it, but not enough. The way the front of the fly goes out from the tent, you get 2 triangle walls extending from the tent body. 2 guy out points on each side wall of fly held it fairly tight. 3rd guy out on middle of top of triangle did not get used (no extra rope or stake) so I do not know what that would help. Front triangle walls are the strange part. If you put something right up against it, it may stay a little dry in a rain. It does block some wind. I guess it is for if you use the fly alone. There are 2 prop open vents on each side near the front pole. I left these closed due to the rain.
Would I buy another? I think I might. I do scouts and this seems to be a tent that vents well. I like that, especially when it is hot out. It may take a little bit getting used to it, but what doesn't. I cut a sheet of plastic to put under the tent body, and the stuff sack (actually a small pack with shoulder straps) is not big enough to hold it also. Or, maybe I need to fold it up better. Stuff sack has a zipper up the middle between the shoulder straps. That looks to be the only flimsy part of the whole set-up. The poles are steel w/shock cords. The stakes are shaped like typical backpack tent stakes, only they are longer and made of steel.
