4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice down jacketReviewed by elskbrev from Oconomowoc on Saturday, February 22, 2020I bought the Marmot Nome Down Jacket in burgundy at a STP store. It was a size up for me, in Medium, but there was not a Small on the sales floor, and I usually buy my down coats big enough for wearing over a heavy cardigan. This coat is cut nicely enough that it does not look too bulky, even in a size bigger than I usually wear. I especially liked the easy open magnet front and pocket closures, at first, for reasons of my own. They are fine, although they snap open and closed as you move about, bending to sit, or whatever. There are neither velcro fasteners nor snaps anywhere on this coat. The only drawback to that is if you actually want to secure your jacket shut, you have to use the zipper. A strong wind could blow this coat open, if all you are using it the magnets.
I don't remember even trying the zipper in the store. When I got home, looked up reviews and learned about zipper problems, I tried it, and sure enough, it didn't work. Despite the fact I agree that 2019 is no time to reinvent a zipper (seriously!)...I had to believe the design engineers weren't stupid--that they would make something for a name like Marmot that simply would not work. So, I devoted maybe a minute or two to jiggling that zipper this way and that, and then it clicked. Literally. Now every time I put the jacket on, it's (1) align and seat the zipper, like you would normally, (2) one click up, (3) one click down, (4) zip up. Something like that. I don't really think about it anymore, it's automatic, and no trouble at all, until I want to release the lower 2-way function of the zip. There, again, it balks, so I have to hesitate, do that click once thing (not click twice this direction), and zip open the lower end of the zipper. Well, it works. When the lower zipper is opened, the lowest magnet snaps open, and then closed again as you bend down and stand up...
The coat is super warm, with its 700 down and very neat looking, which I prefer over the trending puffer down coat look.
One drawback I could mention: The herringbone weave of the exterior fabric is a magnet for pet hair. I don't have this problem with my smoother surface polyester jackets or my canvas jackets. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Teen daughter loves it!Verified Buyer Reviewed by PhDMom from Ohio on Monday, February 3, 2020I bought this for my daughter to wear on a high school international trip to Iceland in March. She wanted something that would be warm enough but not overly heavy. She loves this coat. The 700-fill down will be plenty warm (she's testing that out during our midwestern winter weather), and the jacket is light enough that she doesn't feel like she's toting around 20 pounds of extra weight. She hasn't had any issues with the zipper, and her only negative is that the hood is attached and doesn't zip off. All in all it's a great coat at a fabulous price!

5.0 out of 5 stars. Excellent coatVerified Buyer Reviewed by MFL from Virginia on Saturday, January 25, 2020Very warm, windproof, and stylish. 2 cell phone pockets. I like the fleece around the bottoms of the sleeves to keep out drafts. Deep front pockets with magnetic closures. I like that the hand pockets have magnets also as those with zipper teeth always chew up and scratch my winter-dry hands. I am quite satisfied with this purchase. I haven't felt the least little chill while wearing this coat although I must say that the purchase of this coat has triggered Murphy's law and winter has tamed since the coat has arrived. : )

4.0 out of 5 stars. Decent JacketReviewed by Akmelissa from Alaska on Tuesday, January 21, 2020I just received this jacket and overall I’m really happy with it. It’s 700 fill down but not bulky. The button closures are magnet, which I think are better than Velcro. The faux fur is removable. Which is great for washing. The exterior and jacket itself is great quality. As in previous reviews, the zipper is annoying. But once you get the hang of it, it’s not so bad. Overall great deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars. THE BEST Winter Jacket!!Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Monroe, Michigan on Monday, January 6, 2020My husband bought this coat for me for Christmas. I had never owned any Marmot products before this jacket...but I will from now on! This jacket, while light as a "feather" (no pun intended) is absolutely fabulous in the winter for shielding the wind and cold! There are hidden pockets for your phone and/or wallet so you don't have to carry a purse and the magnet closures over the zipper are magnificent!! What a grand idea!
I have never had a jacket so comfortable and at the same time been so warm and cozy! Marmot outdid themselves with this product! I love it!! -

1.0 out of 5 stars. Warning - Poor 2-way Zipper Causes Zipper RageReviewed by KB from Oregon on Tuesday, December 17, 2019This parka is everything I want except for the 2-way zipper which can take up to 5 minutes to get lined up properly just to be able to close out the freezing cold temps. So frustrating & disappointing. Hoping I can return.
