They are lace ups and totally not what we wanted. I should have read the specs, but as a busy mom doing 100 things, I just looked at the pic. So, I take 50% responsibility of the complete and udder disappointment and sadness of my 7yo when he opened the box and saw exactly what he didn't want.

They seem to run a little large. As other reviewers have said, the laces are cheap. One began to fray just poking it through the lace hole when they first arrived. We'll see how they stand the test of time and use.

So far, I love the look and the soles are doing quite well (I don't foresee having them wear off). The shoe strings are unraveling though, so I will likely have to replace those and it's only been a couple weeks.
