The 1000 Mile Heritage Boot has earned a reputation over the past 110 years as being one of the toughest and most durable boots ever made in America. So, I expected a tough and lengthy break in period.

Nope. After just an hour walking in the house the boots felt very comfortable, laced a slightly loose to begin with. So, I went about my day, and walked more than 11,000 steps...about four miles. My feet felt great.

I wear a size ten in every brand of boots that I own. Most of my boots in a size ten are a bit snug on the first day. These boots are a bit loose. Maybe I could go down a half size to a size 9 1/2. But the looser fit provides room for thick wool socks and room to add a 3/4 length arch support insert.

The rubber Vibram sole and heel provide good traction on smooth surfaces as well as a bit of cushion. Vibram is known for being durable and good repair shops are experienced with Vibram repairs.

The Horween leather used for these boots is America's most respected boot leather. Horween leather boots can last for decades with reasonable care.
