They wound up being a bit too large in the waist though they fit fine at the hip. I also didn't care for the inner waistband material (soft but synthetic, like velcro loop fabric so it catches anything rough) so they went back.

I was afraid that they might be too short, but they are great. I love the deep, secure side pockets and loops. I will probably order a few more pairs for working in at my underground dog fencing business.

They seem well made, although a little short for me, but like most pants and shorts, they are huge in the waist. That is, so large that I could pull them down to my ankles without unfastening them. I am 5'4", 125 lbs, on the curvy side, with an athletic build. The size 8 fit me nicely in the legs and hips, but the waist would have required 1-2" taken in to fit comfortably. I had high hopes for these shorts but am sending them back. Like always, Sierra Trading Post is great with returns.

The length is between short shorts and longer to-the-knee shorts, which looks good and feels good. I also like the brown color.
