5.0 out of 5 stars. Great Value

I've been using 310's in the sierras for the past 6 years and this rod/reel combo at $39 was $10 cheaper than the reel alone at other stores. I have never had one fail on me, and brought in a 5lb hold over rainbow in June Lake with no problem. Drag works great and allowed me to play the fish several times before it was in the net.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Time will tell

I'm hoping this combo will later cause me to rate it five stars. It looks good but I question the long term durability of the reel because it seems to have a lot of plastic pieces. STP offered it an attractive price and we'll see how it goes.

Brought for my granddaughters; very attractive outfits with quality workmanship. Very impressed with the overall quality
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Rod and reel for less than a good rod.

A well made rod and a solid reel for less than the price of a basic rod at a big-box store.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great combo for the money.

This is a great balanced combo. At $39 it cost less than either item sell by themselves. The light action makes landing a 4 to 5 lb fish a lot of fun. I own 6 ultra lights and this is my go to.

About Mitchell

The history behind Mitchell fishing reels and rods can actually be traced back to the mid-1800s when a man named Louis Carpano co-founded a watch gear manufacturing company in Savoy. After the business passed to Louis’ nephew in the early 20th century, the company (then called Carpono & Pons) began manufacturing fishing reels, eventually earning a patent for an open-faced spinning reel in 1950. More models were added over time, including the extremely popular Mitchell 300, which would become the brand’s flagship spinning reel (and is still being sold today). By 1970, the company was manufacturing an astounding 12,000 reels per day. Thirty years later, the Mitchell rods and reels brand was acquired by Pure Fishing, Inc., headquartered in Columbia, South Carolina.
