While these are a little shorter than his usual running shorts, he likes how lightweight they are. The fabric's very soft, flowing, comfortable. Their coverage is sufficient (no peekaboo moments). Fit true to size.

Heavy and Zipper Is a ProblemReviewed by Anonymous from San diego on Saturday, May 10, 2014I liked the idea of a zipper pocket, until I did some sit-ups and leg raisers before my run. The zipper is in the middle in the back and the zipper dongle constantly poked into my back. Not a problem if you never lie on your back and stretch or do calisthenics, but a big problem if so. I also found the shorts to be fairly heavy from the perspective of running shorts. Returned them and found a pair of Brooks with a zipper pocket on the side that retailed for about the same price.

The Large size is a little snug on me, however the material/fabric stretches beautifully so they're not tight and are still comfortable. Besides, I'm in the process of slimming down/burning fat (trying to lose about 15-20 pounds), so these shorts should fit me perfectly in a few more months. These are the first pair of Pearl Izumi running shorts I have ever purchased; most of the other running/athletic shorts I have are New Balance, Asics, or Adidas (brands). These shorts are at least as good and maybe even a notch better than similarly priced running shorts I have from those other brands. I really like the gray color, as well, with just the right shade of gray (neither too light or too dark).
