  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Not as expected
Verified Buyer Reviewed by essgee from chicago, il on Sunday, July 3, 2011
There is no way possible that this jacket could be described as a "softshell" style. It was made of an itchy, gauzy material. The shape of the jacket was fantastic but was advertised as an XL (18-20). This jacket fit like a 10-12 instead. It was so lightweight that I would never wear it on the slopes no matter how warm a day, and I question its ability to wick any sort of moisture. The only plus side of the jacket were the sleeves, which were super long, great for my monkey arms. So disappointed.

This jacket design seems to have focused more on aesthetics than functionality. I don't like the artistic stitching and sent it back.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Light shell but very trim fit for size

High quality product, but XL fits like relaxed M to trim L, much smaller than other Mammut I have worn. Logo is scripted on back of jacket, which does not show in the catalog view. This was objectionable to me but some may not mind.

I liked it because of the double zipper, but the jacket was too small. If you tend to be a pear shape, this jacket is not for you.

About Mammut

Mammut is a Swiss-based producer of high-quality mountaineering, climbing and trekking equipment. The company’s history actually dates back to the mid-1800’s, beginning with a single rope maker named Kaspar Tanner. By the 1940’s, the brand had officially adopted the mammoth logo and name. Originally specializing in Mammut ropes, the well-known alpine gear company eventually grew its product line to include mountaineering boots, crampons, harnesses and hardware. By the 1990’s, the product selection had grown even further to include Mammut jackets, pants, sleeping bags, Mammut packs and a host of other premium-quality essentials for the outdoor enthusiast.
