I bought the size large to accommodate my long, thin, size-9.5 feet—SmartWool socks/tights often run small, I find—and these socks were WAY too tight, in the calves of all places. I'm thin and don't have especially muscular calves. But these socks are very constricting there. They're also quite thin.
