    The only thing thick about these is the yarn itself. The knit itself is loose, such that the socks get stretched out and misshapen and work their way down my feet pretty quickly. They might be OK with boots with a very tight ankle, but with winter boots, say, they drive me crazy by creeping down and getting bunched up under my arch. I'd recommend these only to wear as slippers around the house. Otherwise, if you need thick ragg-style wool socks, the Woolrich ones that pop up here sometimes are better.
