The material is not really flannel as others have said and what did it for me was that the lapels and collar are at lot longer than modern shirts are typically cut. I felt like I needed a double windsor knot on an wide tie to fit the collar size. This may have added benefit when popped for wind protection but wasn't what I was looking for.

The shirt is slim fitting. Size for chest 46-48 recommends XL, but the shirt measures 24.4 inches side to side for an xl. So might want to size up for roomier fit.
