This snowshoes are lot better than MSR lightning ascent.....
I only used once but I love them, I always keep falling in my MSR but I could literally run without hiking pole.... Great so far let's see how durable they are !!!

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. LOVE THESE SNOWSHOES

I bought these for use running in snow that wasn't sufficiently deep enough to warrant the use of my bigger snowshoes for a heart-thumping hike, but too deep (or unevenly crusty and slippery paths made on previous runs) for my running shoe/yaktrax combo.

And I LOVE them. I was concerned about the snow flipping up and hitting my back, but it hasn't been a big deal at all. I run in the woods and marshes around my house in Minnesota on ungroomed trails. It is hard to run on my own trails after a few times, but it isn't a problem to just blaze a new trail. It's hard going and you do have to run slower or risk laying down and dying as your heart explodes from exertion. But I'm sure when I'm back on the gravel road again this summer, I'll be in better shape than ever (even though it's hard to hear my Nike+Run app voice announce my mile times as 15 minutes -- or even 16! It's just that much harder to run in crusty snow!

I find that when I do run across a snowmobile trail and hop on it to run for a while, that the cleats sort of bug me since I feel them more, but you do get used to it.

I got these "vapor" snowshoes in order to cross train to add a little diversity in my running work-outs and they are great! I highly recommend them for jogging and running during the winter in the woods if you are tired of training in town. I also have an older set of Redfeather "explore" snowshoes that I used every year to get out and about with some hiking off of the beaten path and love them.

These snowshoes are so easy to run in that I almost forget that I have them on. The bindings are a little more difficult to put on than my last pair but definitely worth the extra work
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Light and fast: well built.

Did an 8km race in these and they worked great.
Actual tag on snowshoes indicates NO upper weight restriction for use on firm trails. I weigh 190 lbs and they worked fine for running on firm trails. The heel plate is mounted a little far forward for my size 12 running shoe, but it was not noticeable. You might notice it only on the hardest packed trails. Straps held well at -15F. Somehow some fine snow got inside the tubing and melted out later on my entryway floor.
    • Best Uses: Racing on firm trails
    • Cons: Heel plate position
    • Pros: Appearance, Good Traction, Lightweight, Sturdy
