5.0 out of 5 stars. Nice, functional pullover

This is my favorite cool/cold weather top for running. Between 35-45 degrees, all I need under this is a thin wool t-shirt. It breathes exceptionally well, is soft (not clammy against the skin) and is also very water-resistant. In fact, its the best combo of water-resistant/breathable fabric I've ever seen. Its also fully windproof.

I just got back from a 5-mile run in a 40 degree downpour. The dread you feel looking out the window prior to a run in these conditions quickly dissipates when you step outside, enveloped in this thing.

It would also be pretty good for cycling, though it is not as form-fitting as I prefer (I'm 6'4", 185 pounds, and I've got an XL) for biking. It doesn't have thumbholes, which would be nice, nor does it have a drawstring at the bottom or pockets of any sort. The upside is that it is a very minimalist, low-weight item.

I've got two other Mammut softshells that are both a bit more form-fitting and have longer sleeves. Neither are as water-resistant as this though.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great LIght-weight Pullover

I've used this top a few times and found that it's a great light layering piece for summer at altitude. It's a little light for when the mercury really drops but it's great for summer in the Rockies when the weather changes quick and temps drop into the 40's-50's at elevation. Under a rain jacket with a mid layer like a Cap 2 or 3 it's perfect for bagging 14er's or stuffing in my climbing pack. I'm 6' 3" 200lbs and the XL fit well, athletic fit but not too tight, which is right in line with the sizing chart. Having a longer torso it was nice to find that the hem was long enough, didn't look like a crop-top on me as a lot of pieces do. Overall really nice light weight pullover for layering in mild conditions.

This is a very nice, warm shirt that works perfectly for golf or as an underlayer for snow weather. Nicely made and sturdy.

About Mammut

Mammut is a Swiss-based producer of high-quality mountaineering, climbing and trekking equipment. The company’s history actually dates back to the mid-1800’s, beginning with a single rope maker named Kaspar Tanner. By the 1940’s, the brand had officially adopted the mammoth logo and name. Originally specializing in Mammut ropes, the well-known alpine gear company eventually grew its product line to include mountaineering boots, crampons, harnesses and hardware. By the 1990’s, the product selection had grown even further to include Mammut jackets, pants, sleeping bags, Mammut packs and a host of other premium-quality essentials for the outdoor enthusiast.
