I would call them on the thicker side, due to the padded arch. They stay up well and seem true to size (I wear size 7 sneaker and size medium fits well, but would also fit a longer foot. I'm not sure why they're called "below the ankle", because they completely cover my ankle bone, and come up about 1/2" above my sneaker. so if you're looking for no-show, this isn't it. Otherwise, very nice socks. Can't tell that they're seconds.

I have large feet and I am so happy to have a source for socks at reasonable cost. These socks don't squeeze my toes as many do.
