Solid pair of boots and they were easy to break in too. I also liked the wire lined shoe laces that stay tied.

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Good boots, Factory 2nds

I am happy with the boots. They were only available in 10.5s. I'd previously purchased Red Wing chukkas in 10.5 and they were a bit too snug. These fit well, with just the right amount of extra space.

Unfortunately, it appears that the right boot was not finished as thoroughly as the left. The toe is creasing in an unexpected spot, and the leather feels softer and... thinner? I have only worn them for four days. The left boot is still holding a sheen, and is breaking in cleanly. The right boot is starting to look like a different material altogether. I am hoping that they will even out as they get more worn in this Fall. I would return them but unfortunately it looks like I got the last 10.5s.

So, good boots. Nice, lower profile than traditional Red wings. However, beware of Factory 2nds. You might not notice what is wrong. I would switch them out if I could!

This was my first quality GYW boot purchase. I've always heard great things about Red Wing.

I have a skinnier frame, so I didn't want something bulky like the Iron Ranger. The Sheldon fits the bill perfectly. They are sleek and casual at the same time. They look great dressed up or with a pair of blue jeans.

As far as quality, the boots feel durable and high quality. I love the fact that they're made in USA. The minor defects that come from factory seconds are not problems at all. There are 2 small spots of discoloration that wouldn't catch the eye except from close scrutiny. There are no loose grains, and the Teak Featherstone looks wonderful.

I definitely had a long back-and-forth about which size to buy. I did a lot of research on this specific model, and found that the last is a bit longer than usual. I ended up buying a full size down from TTS. I usually wear an 8.5 in sneakers like Converse or Adidas, so I got a 7.5 in the RW Sheldon's. The fit is absolutely perfect. If you purchase this boot, consider going a full size down.

    Highly satisfied with my purchase.

I know this is the second factory, but in this case, the boots are not perfect.
There is a small break in the leather surface of my right foot. However, they look great from a distance and are suitable for running errands.

About Red Wing

With a heritage dating back to 1905, Red Wing Shoes are legendary as an American success story. One Red Wing shoe style was standard GI-issue for WWI soldiers, and after emerging successfully from the Great Depression and the Second World War, the Red Wing brand name became synonymous with reliable, comfortable leather shoes and boots. Norman Rockwell, the artist famous for Americana artwork, even created a series of drawings for Red Wing Shoes. In the 1970s, Red Wing Shoes spread to Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe, offering its popular line of leather work boots and shoes. Red Wing has broadened its scope to offer everything from casual leather lace-up shoes and loafers to rugged work boots to thong sandals. Today, Red Wing runs three production facilities employing hundreds of expert craftsmen, but still makes each pair of oxfords, loafers, work boots and athletic shoes by hand.
