It should be quite warm due to the fabric blend used although it obviously doesn't cover the ears. The fact that there is some stretch in the back of the hat allows for a perfect fit. i have a small head and have difficulty with most of the "one size fits all" hats so this one is perfect for me.

It's not heavy either. It's a take-everywhere-hat for Pacific Northwest year-round weather. It's a good bad hair day hat!
