What the description didn’t tell me was that it was a Wide Calf Fit. Given that detail, the support is less than that at a calf of 14”. I am tall and these socks come comfortably to my knees. Despite the fact they aren’t as tight at the calf as they might have been, they still give comfortable support (moreso at the ankle) and are knit without constriction below the ball of your foot so your toes aren’t squished. Nice loft to the fabric to give a bit of cushion and might be too much for close fitting shoes but not so much you can’t wear a casually fitted shoe.
