For me, the fit was pretty good out of the box. Enough room width-wise, and a bit of slippage in the heel. I have a hunch that with some break in time, these will conform to my feet just like my favorite birks (which are always stiff out of the box). After just a few days, I think I'm correct about these. I'm careful to tie the laces while my heel is positioned at the back of the shoe, which prevents the heel slippage.
Very happy that I got these. Not as comfortable as sneakers, but sometimes you've got to wear presentable shoes. -

The shoe therefore does not bend, the foot’s heel slips in and out when walking. If all you want them for is standing all day, they are fabulous for comfort in that regard.

These are very nice shoes with lots of arch support and a thick comfy sole. I wear an 8.5M and the fit is perfect on both pairs, though I find the suede pair to be the most comfortable. The sole is different on the suede shoes. The leather/suede outer and leather liners are beautiful and the stitching is very well done. These are great shoes. I've worn both pairs a few times all day (on my feet pretty much all day, too) and they remained comfortable and supportive.

I was also pleased with the fit, both width and length -wise. It's not too narrow in the front as I had feared, and I don't have to go half size up. It looks good (though looks quite big) if you are just standing there. But the sole is very hard and stiff, making it not easy to walk in. What made me decide to return, however, is that if I put in a heel insert as I usually do, the shoe would keep slipping off my heel, making it impossible to walk.

I'm wearing the leather version right now and this suede pair arrived yesterday. They are adorable. They do NOT look huge either considering they are a 9.5. I wear them w jeans.

Adorable, lightweight, and well madeReviewed by Munrobagger from SFLA on Thursday, August 23, 2018Since these are made in Portugal, I wasn't sure which size to go with because I'm running 9 -9.5 I ordered both sizes and received the 9 yesterday (it was too short on my foot). It killed me to send them back but I remembered I had another pair arriving because I was smart about the sizing this time.
These shoes have the "WOW" factor if you like a well made oxford. They are light as air and the craftsmanship is something we rarely see anymore. You'll know what i mean the moment you open the box and see the insole, alone. Yes my friends. This is what a good shoe is supposed to look like. I can't wait for 9.5 to arrive. Probably one of the nicest flat / oxford shoes I have in my collection. Go on the Samuel Hubbard website if you have any doubts. This is a high end shoe that we are able to afford here on STP. Woo Hoo. I'm happy! -
