5.0 out of 5 stars. solid MS construction
Reviewed by mse from midwest on Thursday, May 9, 2013
MS typically makes very solid packs/bags (e.g. old Bombpack won't quit after 12 years). This duffel is no different. The upper fabric is a lighter weight ripstop, compared to the thicker cordura bottom (my guesses at the material). Solid YKK zipper. Wish I could find an XXL sized version at STP prices. This review comes with the purchase of a second one (first one 2 y/o and going strong)

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great BIG Duffel Bag!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jeff S. from Arvada, Colorado on Thursday, February 28, 2019
Mountainsmith makes really good gear, and this duffel bag was a good deal on clearance sale, too! I was happy to purchase several of these in both bright red and the cool forest pattern, along with matching size medium bags and one size large, too. I strongly prefer to avoid Chinese-made products, so “Made in Vietnam” was part of the reason for my multiple purchases.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. BIG bag

This bag is well-designed, constructed of high-quality material, and should last for many years. It packs small when empty, yet is almost too large for normal uses. For carrying bulky items such as winter clothing, it should be perfect!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. sturdy but needs pocket(s)

Nice, high quality, light weight materials. Would be much more useful with one or two interior or exterior pockets.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Tough and long-lived

I have two of these duffels. I've owned them for 5 years now and can report they are super tough and extremely useful. I bought them looking for the absolute largest/lightest bag possible when I was moving overseas. I didn't ship anything - just moved with the bags I could check in as baggage. Since then, these bags have been around the world, generally filled with climbing and other outdoor gear, and almost always to the airline maximum 23kg/50lb. Fully loaded, they are definitely cumbersome, but being super durable, I'm not afraid to drag them across smooth airport floors, either. Would purchase again, but I won't have to for a long time.
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. My second

Great travel bag. I use it to haul dive gear to foreign vacation spots. Well built, super sturdy and has held up nicely. This is my second bag although I prefer the first green color better than the blue.
