They are the softest I've found, and yet they are very durable. I even find "excuses" to buy new ones because there's nothing nicer than a brand new pair of merino wool socks! (And the STP prices make it easy to buy lots of these.) And the seamless toes are wonderful for eliminating rub spots. I wear 8.5 shoes, and the Medium fits perfectly. The "charcoal" seems to be a bit darker than the photo, but that's not a problem.
