Because the pants run a little long and the pants soaked up the water from the boat.

Good value, but not at all "silent"Reviewed by Chris from Youngstown, OH on Wednesday, August 21, 2013First of all, decent hunting clothing is usually way overpriced in my opinion. With a sale through STP, this is a killer value in my opinion. I haven't tested the waterproofing, but the other reviews seem to back that up on the jacket and I assume that these pants are no different. The sizing is exactly as I expected. Also, I was pleasantly surprised by how lightweight these are. I wanted a lightweight shell layer that I could insulate (or not) under as needed to accommodate a wide array of temperatures and these should suffice for even warmer fall temps on their own, as well as colder winter temps as a shell with appropriate layering.
With all of that said, the name "Silent Pursuit" is just pure irony. Although it has a brushed finish that I'm sure was INTENDED to keep this quieter than your average waterproof shell layer, it just doesn't work. Oddly, the pants are little more quiet than the jacket even though they appear to be made from the same material. Maybe it will quiet down a bit after a wash/dry cycle or two, but even still, including "silent" in the name is just so ridiculous that I actually debated taking away 2 stars instead of just one. -
