5.0 out of 5 stars. Great bag

Bought 3 sling bags (one Simms, and one TFO) from STP and after comparing side by side, ended up keeping this one. Has terrific quality fabric, best of the 3. I liked that you can switch side of the sling. The pack, even when loaded, stays trim, so it is easy to reach all your tools and flies. The "Zero Sweep" methodology does take a little getting used to, if you were used to mounting/hanging a ton of stuff off your bag, you'll have a small learning curve to get used to the "no snag" ideology. Once you get used to it, it's great though.

Pack has plenty of space for a jacket, your lunch/snacks/water, multiple fly boxes etc. Liked that I could also stick in my tenkara rod as well to carry along with me, where some of the other packs were too small.

This pack doesn't have a "workbench" like some of the others, but I've not found that to be an issue. Have taken it out for one trip now, and it worked great. Only complaint i had was that the pack is almost the length of a regular backpack, so when wading in deep water, the bottom of the pack will get wet.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. good -- but

The pack is well made. It doesn't have enough pockets to serve as a functional fishing sling pack. The reason I returned it was that I needed a sling pack that was wide enough to store my laptop computer. This was too narrow.

About Umpqua Feather Merchants

Dennis Black, the founder of Umpqua Feather Merchants, realized way back in 1972 that demand for his expertly tied fishing flies would quickly surpass his ability to create them in sufficient supply. After enlisting some of the best fly-tiers in the industry to help set Umpqua flies’ standard of excellence, Black established the first of five separate fly-tying factories with a focus on producing the best flies constructed using top-tier materials. Today, Umpqua now has factories in Sri Lanka and Thailand, both faithfully reproducing time-tested patterns and introducing promising new patterns year after year. When you fish with Umpqua flies, you’re fishing with one of the best names in the industry.
