This is not just a shell but has warmth. Too much warmth for fall, but perfect for winter.

  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Sizing is all wrong

This is a wonderful jacket..,,if you have ape arms. I am a size 8-10 with no fudging. I ordered a large because I wanted to layer this jacket. The large fit comfortably with little underneath. It would NEVER layer for a winter ride in Wisconsin. And even if it did the arms were four inches too long making this a ridiculously tight jersey with ape arms. Quality and styling were good, although no pockets. Very disappointed in pearl Izumi. They REALLY need to get a handle on traditional sizing.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Good cold weather biking jacket

I ordered and tried three different biking jackets for cold weather biking. I liked this one the best because it wasn't constricting or form fitting, but loose enough to put a layer or two underneath it, and good coverage on the arms and back. Would have liked front pockets as well as the one in the back, but no biking jackets seem to come with front pockets!
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Nice jacket, runs small

This is a nice jacket and feels warm. Havent worn it on a ride yet. My beef is with PI's sizing. I have been riding for over 10 years and prefer PI for their good quality however in recent years their sizing is inconsistent. I am 5ft 7in tall and weigh around 175lb. I'm late 50's with curves. I take an XL in a top but both jackets this season I have had to exchange for a XXL because they won't go round my midsection. The result then is a jacket that is a bit bulky round the shoulders and sleeves that are way too long. In what universe does middle age spread include arms getting longer. I find all this very demoralizing. Interesting that in other brands of coats and jackets I take a L or even a M. So the bottom line is if you're considering buying this jacket unless you're stick thin, size up and feel depressed.

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
