5.0 out of 5 stars. Carhartt jacket!

My husband has been wanting a Carhartt jacket for a long time and this one fit the bill. It's hard to find medium tall jackets, so when I saw this I ordered it right away. He said it's very warm and comfortable. Very sharp looking too. The price was reasonable and I'm unable to find any defects eventhough it's a 2nd.

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. No brainer

Instead of chicken soup for the soul, this is the simple, hearty, beef stew for a cold winter day.

I'm not trying to make a fashion statement or win the Marlboro man, look alike contests as is currently in fashion with the skinny jean, hipsters and urban pioneers. I want something warm and durable that I dont mind getting dirty or worry about ripping, soiling or ruining. It gets the job done for 50 to 60 bucks less than anywhere else you'll find it. I don't have to worry now about destroying my warm but expensive hunting and ski outfits when working out in the cold and snow now.

Its my go to for chores and really nasty, windy, snowy cold weather. All Carharts seem to run a little bit large for good reason-to account for layering underneath. That being said, I always found that going up one size and getting a (long or tall), although a bit bulky, keeps me from binding in the arms, chest and shoulders and the jacket from riding up my back when bending over. Your mileage might vary.

Function over form wins every time with me. There is nothing worse than being in a bind and feeling like a stuffed marshmallow with several layers underneath while chopping wood, shoveling snow or other active cold weather tasks. I'd rather look a little top heavy and be comfortable!!!

This one has the snaps for a hood under the collar but NO HOOD. I never liked attached hoods on heavy jackets anyway. I just use a hooded sweat shirt as part of my layers to keep snow, rain or sleet from running down my back. If you're really pressed about it, you can purchase the hood separately.

This has the arctic quilt lining which is warm and fairly thin. The outer layer on this particular one is softer and less stiff than most of this brand, which is also good for comfort and wear-ability. I'm not sure of the long term durability of this softer fabric shell but for the price, honestly who cares? I could buy two here for what I'm paying elsewhere.

I'm not sure how water resistant it is but usually this is not an issue for me; if its warm enough to rain, I'm wearing something lighter anyway. You could always use a waterproofing spray like Kiwi Camp Dry or Starbright waterproofing. Ive had good luck with both of those in the past on other items.

A good, heavy, warm, seemingly durable winter chore coat. I could not find any defect that would qualify this as a 2nd and I'm pretty particular with my gear.

About Carhartt

If you're looking for durable, comfortable clothing and outerwear, few other brands can compete with Carhartt. Although the venerable Carhartt clothing company has become one of the most respected names in American work wear today, the brand comes from humble roots. Founded in 1889, the family-owned business started out in Detroit, Michigan with just two sewing machines and five employees. During The First World War, the company made uniforms for the US military and also manufactured work clothing for the Navy during WWII. Today, Carhartt clothing is still known for robust fabrics, top-notch construction and a great fit. From rugged Carhartt jackets and coveralls to jeans and shirts, this is one brand you can trust to deliver the real deal -- every time.
