Plenty soft. But a wider scarf would be able to wrap around twice and completely cover my neck and this scarf wraps twice and doesn't completely cover it because of the width.

Looks good as an indoor scarf, too, because it's not too bulky, and keeps me warm and itch-free when the thermostats are turned down. For outdoors, it's toasty warm, wrapped a couple of times around the neck. They have been great in this cold snowy winter we're having in NC.

It's also very warm, perfect for warding off cold and wind. The only down side I see so far is that the fringe can catch in zippers if you're not careful. Being wool, it's not quite as soft as fleece but is not as itchy as I feared it might be.

I can put it on, wrap it twice around my neck and still be able to zip up my down coat all the way up. It is also thin enough -- and attractive enough -- to wear during work when it gets chilly.
