This jacket has good wind-blocking properties without being too suffocating. I don't know that it would do a lot to repel water, but it's great for the rides that start at low temperatures but that are starting to get into the 70s by the time the ride ends. I'm pretty short, so I don't think about it a lot, but my taller friend with a longer torso, can wear this jacket without worrying about exposing any midriff. Fabric is very soft and feels great.
