Not soft initially, but I understand Hawick tends to soften over time. Also no label on the collar, which was strange but perhaps explained the low price. Green color and size L fit are fine.

I purchases primarily for the color (coral) and I am glad I did. Great quality, great look. I did get the XXL as some of the other postings indicated the sizes might run a bit small and I usually get the XL. Glad I did as it is a perfect 'casual' fit with jeans and khakis and matches my new shoes (also casual an coral) as well.
After receiving, I went back to buy a the green ... and, unfortunately, too late and stocked out. -
