5.0 out of 5 stars. Just What I was Looking For

When I ski, my hands get sweaty and then cold. The only kind of glove that prevents this is one with a removable liner that I can dry out. Because my hands get cold so easily, I need that liner to be a mitten as well. So many liners these days are gloves, it took alot of looking to find the warm mitten liner. My girth is 71/2 inches and I ordered a large. Slightly big but I am sure the Medium would have been too small. I really like the long length and easy pull cord to keep snow and cold out.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Warm & Great Design

I bought these for a trip to Antarctica. They seem warm but I haven't gotten to really give them a good test on that yet. I love the design. The inserts have some sort of silicon and velcro on them so they stay in place. There are wrist straps so you can take the mittens off and not worry about losing them. They are not so bulky that you feel like you are wearing oven mitts. Very good quality mittens

So far the temperatures have not been cold enough for me to need to use the outer kits, I have just been using the inner liners and they are amazing. They keep my hands very warm. I love the micro fleece inside. The outer mittens have a good amount of down so I expect them to be very warm and I cannot wait to use them on my next snowshoe adventure.

I haven't used these skiing yet - the main reason I bought them - but so far they have more than managed while shoveling snow and scraping snow/ice off the car. It's easy to tighten/loosen the strap around the wrist with one hand and the inner liner stays put pretty well. I'm also glad for the wrist tether when riding the lifts. I ordered the large and they are a little snug but I think the XL would be way too big. Maybe over time they will relax a bit. Can't wait to have warm fingers and stick a hand warmer packet in between the layers for skiing this winter - way better than my old gloves.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
