Amazing Jacket....So Far...Verified Buyer Reviewed by dc1 from sf bay area on Friday, September 18, 2015Too early to put it through its paces in the cold and snow, but the jacket looks amazing and is very, very well put together like everything from OR. The jacket does run large as others have said. This was a purchase for my wife. She is 5'3" and reasonably thin, so we got the XS. It is barely small enough for her, hoping that with a layer underneath it works well. Other than getting the right size I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this jacket for winter wear, especially at the crazy prices you sometimes get on STP.

It's surprisingly lightweight for such a sturdy jacket. Fit is true to specifications, obviously made of high quality materials. Only downside I can see is that the cross vent zippers are a bit tricky to zip up and down, due to the angle of the zipper.

The construction is absolutely bomber: durable yet flexible material, taped seams, waterproof zippers, etc. Lots of pockets and venting. You'll need an insulating layer for cold days, but it's great with just a light layer for spring skiing. Personally, I like that flexibility. I like the look, too. I have the black with cobalt trim, and it's sharp. Based on this jacket, I will probably look at Outdoor Research brand first from now on.

I am 5'10", 165#, smallish chest and long arms, so initially purchased the blue in a large. When it arrived I was disappointed to find it was just too big - I don't like gear flapping around when I'm skiing - so had to send back for a medium, in black. The medium fits perfectly - slimming, can still fit warm layers under, the sleeves are nice and long, and ski flap fits just right over my size-10 booty! The blue was pretty but the black with the blue contrast is really beautiful and I get many compliments on it. The colors are true to the online photos. Lots of great pockets for gear/phone/etc. I have had no problem with the zippers. This jacket is very warm and wind-proof in our sub-zero South Dakota temps and was a great value for the $. Quality seems excellent. I am looking forward to getting many years of use from it!

The sizing is a bit large, but it's nice to have room for layering. I have used it is sleet and rain and it is totally waterproof. The color is great! Lots of nice features and pockets.

Great quality, features, and perfect length for tall ladiesReviewed by lisamamot from West of Boston, MA on Monday, February 2, 2015Ordered this in small/black for my 5'8" <120 pound teen daughter. Even at STP it was an investment (undoable otherwise), but I was looking for that "final" ski jacket to take her on through the rest of her growth, and that also has all the features she will want for years to come. We may just have found it! Gore-Tex, RECCO, powder skirt, removable helmet compatible hood, pit zips...really, it has it all. The fabric is strong and quite heavy, and the brushed lining adds quite a bit of warmth.
She tried it on with a thin synthetic layer and, yes, it is roomy in the core; they could have nipped in the sides just a bit for that feminine cut. That said, when she is layered up for skiing (base layers, mid-weight layer, down/synthetic jacket) she may appreciate the extra room, and the mobility it provides. She and I both struggle with sleeve length, and this jacket is absolutely perfect for the long limbed. It is also a longer cut and hits at low hip on us.
For reference, I am 5'9" <140 pounds and I could wear this jacket in a small if I was not layering; I would want the medium to give me mobility through the shoulders with my multiple ski layers. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Very nice skiing jacketReviewed by Partizan from Boston, MA on Tuesday, December 23, 2014I bought this for my wife. She's 5'5" ~135-140lbs, wears size 6 dresses (sometimes 4). Bought the S size and fits her nicely for skiing purposes. Meaning there's enough room for her to wear her down jacket underneath. If you plan like to wear this jacket just over a t-shirt or a thin layer, you may consider sizing down. There is a nice thin fleece lining inside the jacket. Tons of pockets. Some of them will take a long time to figure out what the real purpose is. She picked a trillium color which is a nice redish pink. It will be very easy to spot her on the slopes. Length wise it is just about right, sleeves are long but not like gorilla arms like one of the reviewers said. Better to cover over the gloves than letting snow from the wrist area but maybe a little long for daily use. Skirt length is perfect. It does cover ~4-5" below the waist line. Finally the jacket is a soft shell Gore Tex, at first I thought it will be like a Spring soft shell jacket but this has almost like a hard shell feeling. Very high quality. 5 stars.

This OR Gore-Tex jacket looks very nice in the black with blue trim color choice. Unfortunately, the small size jacket that I received is huge, and has gorilla-length arms. The zippers are plastic and feel flimsy. The main front two-way zipper is hard to engage and does not zip smoothly. For this price point, better zippers should part of the garment. So the jacket is returning to STP for a refund.

I like a loose comfortable fit but this jacket is oversized. I'm 5'7" and 145 pounds and the large is very big on me. Unfortunately it has to go back as even with my layers I would typically wear skiing, this jacket is still too large. OR is difficult to judge on sizing, I don't like things tight but my typical size selections seem so large for this brand.
