It's not too poofy - lightly filled, but will be warm, especially with a fleece layer underneath. It didn't run small for me as other reviews indicated. I'm 5' 4" and the medium was too big so returned for a small which was a perfect fit.

It does run small so if you like a more fitted jacket then order your regular size, but if you want to layer or like a looser fit, then you need to order one size larger.. I normally wear a small but ordered the medium. It looks fine but not tight alone, and with a polar tech fleece under it still fits but is more fitted.

I am 5' 7" and 135 pounds. The Large fit me well, but it did seem to run a bit small compared to other large-sized jackets, though the sleeves are plenty long. I do have room for a heavy sweater underneath. The hood has a slightly stretchy binding around it, with no strings to pull, and the neck is nice and high to cover for warmth. Also nice to have a somewhat longer length, especially in the back. Love the deep blue color!
