3.0 out of 5 stars. These are agressive shoesVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Colorado on Wednesday, March 25, 2015Wow, got these in my street shoe size and boy did they hurt my feet. These have agressive down-turned toes more so than might be realized from looking at the photos. The soles are concave in the area below the middle of the toes.
Sent them back because I didn't get all day comfort in my street shoe size. -
4.0 out of 5 stars. No pain, no gainVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Indiana on Monday, October 27, 2014The shoes arrived looking a little shabby. I'm guessing another buyer had tried them on a few routes and then returned before coming to me. It was basically cosmetic, but it would have been good to know before purchasing. But that said, I'm very happy with the shoes themselves.
I bought a full size up from my previous shoes (Mad Rock Flash), and they were still crazy tight out of the box. After a couple of weeks of gym climbing, either my feet are reshaping themselves, or the shoes have stretched just enough to keep them wearable without feeling the need to rip them off after every route. I have some nice blisters on my big toes to show for my efforts. That said, the gain in performance has been worth the pain. It has taken some adjustment to use the down-turned toes. They can edge on just about anything. I've had to adjust my footwork on some familiar routes in order to keep my feet in useable positions, but the shoes provide a whole new level of confidence once I allow myself to believe that I won't just roll off tiny footholds. A drawback--because of the down-turn, they don't smear well if you need to put weight on the smearing foot--you just don't get much surface area on the wall.
The strap closures are great; I love the middle cinch. They come off easily, which is a big bonus during the break-in period.
I would recommend these for people who have acclimated to climbing with a flatter shoe who are ready for something a bit more aggressive. -
