3.0 out of 5 stars. Nice looking, not helmet compatible, high end competition wins
Reviewed by lisamamot from West of Boston, MA on Wednesday, April 16, 2014
I am 5'8 1/2", size 8 (39" hip), and have long arms; I ordered this in black M. Aqua accents are very pretty on the black and in general it is a nice looking jacket, and I was pleased the zipper placket does not have velcro. The fabric feels very sturdy and seems as if it will hold up well. The fit was fairly true to size, but does not have much room in the shoulder area to layer, and the sleeves were inches too short for me. Torso length was doable, but the hip of the jacket flared out more than I liked; powder skirt fit easily, perhaps too easily? I can see the fit of this jacket working better on someone several inches shorter than myself; the length of the jacket would be a longer free ride fit, and the sleeve length would be more appropriate.

The hood is not helmet compatible which is unacceptable for me in a jacket of this caliber and price point. Polartec NeoShell seems to be very sturdy, but I have never put it to the test, and it doesn't carry the same brand strength as Gore-Tex.

With the high-end price point, this jacket should be competing with the 3 layer Gore-Tex Arc'Teryx Sentinel or Stingray, and the Patagonia Triolet or Untracked. Faced with that competition it falls down in my opinion.
