They are sturdy like an English dress shoe. The shoe is substantial without being clunky. Great with dress slacks or jeans. They do, however, run a little big. I wear a size 9.5 and these are a little loose, but no so loose that I needed to return them. I will likely use a heel snugger or a felt tongue pad to make them a little tighter.

I've been wearing these for a couple of weeks now, and they just get more and more comfortable. The heavy leather sole was a bit stiff at first, but it has broken in gradually and no longer has that stiff new shoe feel. The shoes look great -- conservatively stylish in an old-school way. They work well with chinos and slacks, but also dress up a pair of jeans too. Very happy with my purchase.
